Hello and welcome! I’m Dierdre Barnes, the proud owner of F.L.Y. Girl Candles, and I’m so grateful you’ve stopped by. Here in Louisville, Kentucky, we craft simple and chic hand-poured soy wax candles designed to enhance your living space and illuminate your moments of self-care.
My Story
I’m a mom of two wonderful kiddos and a native of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky. My journey led me to the University of Louisville, where I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business. I’ve always dreamed of being a business owner, not just for the independence it offers, but also for the opportunity to create and design a schedule that fits my life and allows me to be present for my family.
The Spark of Inspiration
My love for candles and my personal self-love journey inspired me to explore candle making. A friend introduced me to this craft in December 2019, when I purchased my first candle-making kit. The process was not only therapeutic but also deeply fulfilling. Crafting candles that I could share and gift to others brought me immense joy.
The Meaning Behind F.L.Y.
F.L.Y. stands for “First Love Yourself.” This mantra is deeply woven into the fabric of our brand. It reflects my own journey and the ethos of F.L.Y. Girl Candles. Each candle is named to inspire self-care and self-love. They are thoughtfully created with eco-friendly, sustainable soy wax, which ensures that they burn clean and slow, enriching your environment without harming it.
